Update: The final version of Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 has been released and is now ready for download. Service Pack 1 contains all previously released stability, performance and security updates as well as updates that improve some of the existing features of Windows 7.
It’s important to note that you may need to uninstall Service Pack 1 Release Candidate to be install the final version of Service Pack 1. Also remember that SP1 requires at least 410o MB (x86) and 7000 MB (for x64) of free disk space on your Windows 7 drive. Make sure you have enough free space before trying to install the Service Pack. Original article: As expected, Microsoft has made available for download the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems. Just a few days back, we reported about the possibility of the official SP1 RC release on 26th, October.
As previously announced, the only new features added to the SP1 are the Windows Server 2008 R2-related virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX . SP1 includes both a roll-up of operating system updates and several new capabilities for Windows Server.
